Marvel And Disney Animation Announce Big Hero 6

Since the Mouse House acquired Marvel back in 2009, there has been talk of Disney Animation taking on some of Marvel’s properties. It seems that we finally have some follow through on that promise as the two powerhouse studios have announced a new film Big Hero 6, based on the Marvel comic series of the same name.

According to SuperHeroHype, the film will be directed by Don Hall. The site also has a brief synopsis:

Big Hero 6 is an action comedy adventure about brilliant robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who finds himself in the grips of a criminal plot that threatens to destroy the fast-paced, high-tech city of San Fransokyo. With the help of his closest companion—a robot named Baymax—Hiro joins forces with a reluctant team of first-time crime fighters on a mission to save their city.

Inspired by the Marvel comics of the same name, and featuring comic-book style action and all the heart and humor audiences expect from Walt Disney Animation Studios, the CG-animated Big Hero 6 hits theaters in 3D on November 7, 2014.

Some artwork and brief footage have already been released for the film, which you can see below. While no characters are revealed, the artwork is pretty incredible and I for one am eagerly looking forward to seeing this and future Marvel/Disney Animation collaborations.
