According to ComicBookMovie.com, the acclaimed Batman series The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller is set to be turned into a two-part animated feature! The four-part comic series debuted in 1986 and is regarded as one of the most influential comics of the 80s (and in fact is one of the main reason that period is referred to as “The Dark Age”). Bruce Timm, who is best known for his work on Batman: The Animated Series as well as producing all of the DC Universe Original Movies, will be producing the film. Timm has stated that he is planning on making the film “very, very faithful to the comic”, while voice director Andrea Romano revealed that Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are being considered to reprise their roles as Batman and the Joker. The film is set to be released sometime next year.
