Dinklage Joins X-Men, While Jackman May Leave

Thesps are literally throwing themselves at superhero films these days. Bryan Singer announced via his Twitter feed today that Peter Dinklage is set to join the ever expanding cast of X-Men: Days Of Future Past. While initial fan chatter speculated that he may portray the super-durable dwarf Puck, a member of Canada’s mutant team, Alpha Fight, Variety is now reporting that Dinklage will play the film’s main antagonist.

Best known for his role Emmy award winning turn as Tyrion Lannister in Game Of Thrones, Dinklage will star alongside (deep breath) Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Anna Paquin, Michael Fassbender, James Macavoy, Jenifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult, to name but a few.

Speaking of Jackman, the Aussie actor has dropped hints that Days of Future Past could be his last reprisal of his iconic role as Wolverine. In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, Jackman stated that after DOFP, he is not committed to any more X-Men films, and once shooting has wrapped he will be taking time off with his family.

By the sounds of things, the stresses of maintaining Wolverine’s massive physique may be taking a toll on the 44 year old actor. Shooting is expected to commence in Montreal in mid-April and wrap in Ocotber, so check back here all summer for more updates from the set.

Will Dinklage be a good addition to the X-Men roster? And would Puck even work in the DOFP storyline? Please let us know your thoughts on that, as well as the (hopefully not) sad news that Jackman may be sheathing his claws for good.
