First Glimpse of Spidey’s New Duds

Written by Robert Wallis

Director Marc Webb has just tweeted us our first look at the new Spider-Man costume from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 with the hashtag #thebettertoseeyouwith. On first observation, the new suit’s eyes would seem to be less sharply angled than those from The Amazing Spider-Man, and, though it’s difficult to tell against the black background, they would seem to be composed of white mesh, as opposed to the previous costume’s yellow tint.

While that brief glimpse is all we’ve got so far, Webb previously promised the design will feature “Bigger eyes” and  “Gnarly web shooters.” In any case, it’s nice that the costume designers aren’t resting on their laurels – Batman’s suit underwent a gradual  and subtle redesign over the course of Christopher Nolan‘s trilogy, one that arguably reflected the character’s thematic development. What the new eyes means for the state of Spidey’s soul remains to be seen…

Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will star Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Shailene Woodley, Dane DeHaan, Felicity Jone, Paul Giamatti, Colm Feore, Martin Sheen, and Sally Fields, and is due out May 2nd of next year.
