Thanks to blogger MarvelMexico at ComicBookMovie.com, we now have our first description of the first trailer for Thor: The Dark World. Nigel Cook, Vice President of Marvel International, recently gave a talk about the MCU at the Disney Consumer Show 2013 in Mexico City, during which it was shown publicly for the first time. While any one of us at AP2HYC would have loved to have been in that audience, we’ll have to settle for this description of the trailer:
It starts with a voiceover, is Thor, you see some scenes of a big battle and then Jane Foster and other humans running scared cause something is “coming”. Thor says: “I promised I would return for you” as we see Thor arriving Earth to take Jane to Asgard.
Apparently the fight scenes are pretty awesome, and the trailer show that Thor is out of Malekith’s league, in fact we can see a very damaged and tired God of Thunder. And since he’s no match for the Dark Elve, the mighty Avenger will have to search for help. This lead us to a scene where we see a big crystal prision and there’s someone sit on the ground. It’s Loki.
Thor says: I need your help, but if you betray me…I will kill you. Loki smiles and answers: What do I have to do?
Then we see another scene of Thor figthing Malekith while Jane is watching. Malekith looks threatening. Jane looks terrified. Thor looks overwhelmed. Malekith stares at Jane and Thor yells: NOOOOO!
Spelling and punctuation aside, that sounds pretty, pretty cool. Thor finally meets his full-strength physical match in the form of Christopher Eccleston‘s Malekith the Accursed, Natalie Portman‘s love interest arrives in the Halls of the Gods, and Tom Hiddleston‘s Loki worms his way out of captivity after the events of The Avengers. Also, we could be jumping the gun on this, but could that very dramatic “NOOOOO!” indicate that Alan Taylor‘s movie is taking the brave move of actually killing off Jane Foster?
Thor: The Dark World is due out on November 8th while the first trailer is rumored to be accompanying prints of Iron Man 3, which arrives in UK cinemas on the 25th of this month. Given what that film promises to put Pepper Potts through, it’s possible that the MCU’s foremost superhero team could be composed entirely of bachelors by the time The Avengers 2 rolls around…
