ABC Gives Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. A Series Order

It may not be much of a shocker, but it has FINALLY been confirmed that ABC has given  Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. a series order with a debut this fall.  Over the past few weeks, ABC has been adamant that they have not given the series an order yet although it has been wildly speculated that they have.  I’d say it was a smart choice by them to wait and see how Iron Man 3 did before making an announcement, but who’re we kidding, we all knew this was going to happen at some point.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s pilot was written by The Avengers scribe Joss Whedon and his co-writers from Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, as well as being directed by Joss Whedon.  The show stars Clark Gregg, reprising his role of Agent Phil Coulson from almost every Marvel film, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda Way, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Brett Dalton as Agent Grant Ward, Chloe Bennett as “Skye”, and J. August Richards in an unspecified role.

Below you will find S.H.I.E.L.D. ID cards for the cast, with the exception of J. August Richards and only a photo of Chloe Bennett as Skye was released (as the team meets her in the first episode) with a hint of who the villain is, as well as a full cast photo.   A promo for the show will air tonight during Once Upon a Time.

Did you find the news of an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series order shocking or expected?  Do you think the show will maintain the quality of the Marvel movies?
