Now we that ABC has given us our first official look at the show, it’s safe to say Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is not only on our radar, but has us manning all battle stations in anticipation.
Though the pilot’s not due to air till September, we think it’s time we got acquainted with the men and women of S.H.I.E.L.D. whose exploits will form the basis of this eagerly awaited Avengers spinoff.
Leading the group we have Agent Phil Coulson, played by the series’ Clark Gregg. Though Coulson seemed to meet his maker at the hands of Loki during the events of The Avengers, it seems he will be back on the feet for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Whether this truly is Coulson, as opposed to a Life Model Decoy, and, if so, how he survived impalement remains to be seen. Fan site ShieldTV gives this description of him:
“Agent Phil Coulson is the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, the “everyman” in a universe full of superheroes. Every day he’s somewhere doing something for S.H.I.E.L.D. He knows how to stand his ground but doesn’t take life too seriously.”
Whether Coulson’s sense of humor will have remained intact now that he has undergone such a trauma is something Joss Whedon‘s script team will be exploring, I’m sure, though Coulson’s obvious affection for “Lola”, his little red Corvette, suggests he still has heart to spare.
