We Have A Crow

Despite previous rumours that both James McAvoy (X-Men: First Class) and Tom Hiddleston (The AvengersThor) were in contention for the role of supernatural avenger Eric Draven in the upcoming reboot of The CrowDeadline is reporting that the person who will be stepping into the black leather and greasepaint will, in fact, be Luke Evans.

Though certainly not as big a name as either McAvoy or Hiddleston, Evans’ first film role was as Greek god Apollo in the 2010 remake Clash of the Titans,  also appearing as Aramis in Paul W. S. Anderson‘s The Three Musketeers, not to mention Zeus in Tarsem Singh‘s Immortals (which also featured new Superman Henry Cavill in his first starring role.) Evans will also be playing the lead villain in Fast & Furious 6, this years’ installment of the street racing series that has so far grossed more than $1.5 billion, as well as Bard the Bowman in both The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and it’s sequel.

Both of these castings, and the fact F. Javier Guttierez, director of The Crow reboot, has shifted the start of filming to early 2014 to accommodate Evans’ busy schedule, suggests that Evans could be a talent to look out for.

Here’s a featurette from Fast & Furious 6 that emphasises Evans’ bad guy, Owen Shaw:
