How Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Will Relate To The Rest Of The MCU

Since the announcement that the second Avengers film will in fact be Age of Ultron and less than 50 days until Thor: The Dark World lights up our big screens, there has been a massive hole left to fill. Queue dramatic music and up steps Phil Coulson (wonderfully played by Clark Gregg) and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Having often played backup to our superheroes, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. finally gives us a insight to the world’s finest task force. While our other heroes in the Marvel Universe were battling their greatest foes, the agents where already investigating a pre Chitauri invasion finding discarded weapons. Maybe they will discover something in the wreckage of Manhattan that will have a further impact than the initial invasion. With so much wreckage, their is bound to be other organisations interested in getting their greedy little hands on some Chitauri tech. Will A.I.M poke their ugly heads out again and this time think, armed with their own tech and newly acquired alien weapons finally achieve what they started in Iron Man 3? Or Has Loki made some other menacing alliances that have unfinished business with S.H.I.E.L.D.?

All forces of good must deal with forces of evil! Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will deal with many threats, threats such as The Rising Tide an anonymous network of hackers whose sole goal is to expose the existence of superhumans and powered individuals. Massive sectors of the superhuman population hide their identities under a mask or different alias, so to be exposed would have massive impacts. Take for example Spider-Man, a hero with many enemies who would take pleasure in causing Peter Parker’s family and love ones endless pain. The years of hiding and secrets simply poured online by the The Rising Tides’ love of exposing super beings could be quite dangerous, and it’s up Coulson and his team to preserve their identities. Being super hackers, their meddling could lead to infecting much of the technology used in the Marvel Universe, leading to possible disasters such as Iron Man’s suit or even JARVIS going rogue, a possible entry for Age Of Ultron.  They could team up with many of our superheroes’ other established enemies such as HYDRA or A.I.M.

Not all threats to S.H.I.E.L.D are villains and out of control super beings. After Director Fury disobeys a direct order from the World Secret Council could they be after revenge? Naturally everything worked out and Fury’s plan worked, but is the council willing to let it go and move on? Something tells me they are not big enough just to accept a victory and will look to stamp their overall authority over Fury, which could have impacts for our agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. All realistic possibilities, however not all could be bad for our agents with a new team to work with, all with unique abilities some good could come out of this new series. With countless appearance of other unknown super beings and the unique skills of Phil Coulson he could be recruiting a new team of Avengers or add to S.H.I.E.L.D.’s ever growing task force.  With their own scientific department could it be possible they will be interfering with any other major impacts of the Marvel Universe? Pym particles? Any of Mr Fantastic’s experiments?

All speculation I’m afraid, based off one single pilot episode and only time will tell if Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is going to be a spin off series full of action packed scenes, new heroes and villains or will it have a bigger role to play in the future in the Marvel Universe? Either way it’s going to be a fun ride along the way!
