Age of MCU: 6 Iron Man Suits We’d Like To See In Future MCU Films

You’ve heard the expression, “the clothes make the man”? In the case of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it should be “the iron suit makes the man.” One of the highlights of any Iron Man movie is seeing Tony dive into his armor and start kicking ass. Each movie, we’re introduced to a new suit that’s better than the last. Thousands of fans are going crazy over the fact that we’re finally seeing the Hulkbuster Armor make an appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

While the Hulkbuster is indeed epic, there is much more in the Stark arsenal. Over the years, Tony has donned dozens of different suits, each designed to accommodate a special situation. We got a glimpse of some of these suits in Iron Man 3, but we deserve more. With such a wide future ahead of us, it’s very possible that we may see one or more of the following armors make an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

6. Space Armor Mark III

For a brief time, Iron Man joined forces with the Guardians of the Galaxy. The question is, how exactly could he travel through space to meet up with the Guardians? After several prototypes, Tony Stark perfected the Space Armor Mark III. This suit is powered by multiple repulsor cores like the one implanted in his chest, and it is equipped with a revolutionary AI system called P.E.P.P.E.R., which can take over control in case of emergencies. The most impressive feature is that Stark can control multiple suits on Earth while wearing this armor hundreds of light years away. So we can see Iron Man fighting alongside the Guardians in one film as his drones help the Avengers back on Earth. If we’re lucky, this armor could be a tiny bridge that leads to a crossover between the two teams.

5. Thorbuster Armor

You’ve heard of the Hulkbuster, but what do you know about the Thorbuster? Thor entrusted Tony Stark with an Asgardian crystal with the intention of using it to provide clean energy to Earth. Shortly afterwards, Asgard “moved” over Earth and caused disruptions on the planet. Stark goes to meet with the Asgardians, Thor shoos him off, and things get intense. Using the Asgardian crystal as a power source, Stark builds an armor designed off of the Destroyer and confronts the Norse God of Thunder once again. Thor wins the fight against the armor, but only because he was wielding the Odin-Force. The Thorbuster was able to stop Mjolnir in mid-flight, so if Thor was at his regular strength level, Stark might have won. Now, I’m not the biggest fan of the Thor films, but if I knew the Thorbuster was going to be showing up, then you might find me at the midnight premiere.

4. Heavy Duty Armor Mark I

It’s a shame we didn’t get more action with War Machine in the films, and I highly doubt that his suit will be showing up much in the future. As a compromise, I’d settle with an appearance by the Heavy Duty Mark I. Stark actually built this armor with the original intention of fighting the Hulk, but it wasn’t as polished as the Hulkbuster. Even if it doesn’t pack as hard a punch, this armor would be great to spot on screen. It’s armed with multiple miniguns on the arms and shoulders, and possesses a powerful forcefield generator that can repel up to a dozen enemies at once. This would be the ideal suit for large-scale battles with multiple soldiers converging on the Avengers. Send in the Heavy Duty Mark I to clear the road with the Hulk providing backup.
