Not to be outdone by Marvel, DC have recently released a new 40 second teaser for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.
In the teaser, we see Ben Affleck’s Batman awaking to find that his hands are tied. He’s in his desert costume, which we saw more of in the previous trailer and he’s surrounded by several other men. This is followed by the Man of Steel, once again played by Henry Cavill, dropping into the pit where Batman is being held. This leads to the clip we have seen previously of armoured men bowing to Superman. We can also see Superman is angry… really angry, as he approaches The Dark Knight, before doing something really uncool to a fellow superhero and unmasking him. But what could this mean? Some suggest that the tone of the teaser has a dreamlike state to it. Was Batman dreaming the sequence? Or was Superman really that angry at the caped crusader? If so for what reason?
For more insight, let’s take a look back on what has been released in the trailers so far. In the first full length trailer, which was released way back in July, we saw a trailer very much Batman oriented. The trailer deliberately had Clark/Superman say nothing, as it is shown from everyone else’s perspectives about their differing opinions on Superman.
The near 4 minute trailer revealed that the world is split on their opinions on Superman, some in favour, others protesting the hero’s presence, with a statue of the hero trashed and graffiti sprayed across it saying ‘False God’. Many blaming him for the destruction to Metropolis as seen in Man of Steel. Most importantly, it is clear to see at least one reason why Batman doesn’t trust or like Superman, and that is because one of Bruce Wayne’s building was destroyed during Superman’s battle with Zod, presumably killing people that worked for him.
The trailer also revealed quite a lot of action including fight scenes between Batman and Superman. With some scenes looking like they were torn from the pages of Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns.
Not only this, but we are also introduced to Gal Gadot‘s Wonder Woman, who looks to be kicking ass and Jesse Eisenberg‘s Lex Luthor, who looks to be a thorn in Superman’s side once again. There is also a quick glimpse of Zod’s body taken after the events from Man of Steel. What is going to happen to his body during the film?
Of course with a big blockbuster such as this, little is known yet with regards to the whole plot. There are rumours making rounds on the web that Doomsday could appear in some form, leading to a big showdown for the finale.
Could the introduction of such a villain? Or teaming up to stop Lex be what finally brings our heroes together?
If all of that wasn’t enough, other superheroes are set to appear in apparent cameo roles, with rumours of Ezra Miller‘s Flash and Jason Momoa‘s Aquaman set to appear along with Ray Fisher‘s Cyborg.
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is set to hit the big screens in March 2016. If you can’t wait that long for some more action, a new feature length trailer is set to debut on Wednesday. Don’t forget to look out for our analysis of the trailer soon after it drops.
