OK. I start this by saying this is going to be absolutely filled with spoilers for season 6 of The Walking Dead. If you haven’t seen the season finale yet you should probably go watch it. If you haven’t seen and have no interest in it then you probably clicked on the wrong link. If that is the case, I highly recommend you rethink that decision and start watching TWD.
Season 6 of The Walking Dead came to an and a few weeks back with the episode “Last Day On Earth” which featured the introduction of probably the biggest threat Rick’s group have ever had to face, and it didn’t end pretty. Negan’s television début had been greatly anticipated all season but for some it didn’t live up to what some had hoped. Now personally I enjoyed the cliffhanger ending. It allows us fans time to think know about it, Work out for ourselves who it might be who had their brains smashed over the floor in front of the assembled group. So going through the members of the group unlucky enough to be caught we’ll talk through who it could have been and what that means for the group.
We all know the new leader of the Alexandrians isn’t going to be killed off that easy, and even if he was going to killed by something so pedestrian as a baseball bat, albeit one as sadistic looking as Lucille.
Rick being killed by Negan at this point makes no sense, having only just met. We need to see that building tension between the two leaders. However, if he were to killed off here the group would fall to pieces without him, leaving Daryl, Michonne, Abraham or even Carl to take his place as the leader of the Alexandrians. But we all know Negan doesn’t want to kill him because he knows who the brains of the group is.
Rick’s little slugger didn’t have a great season 6, then again no one really did, but being shot in the eye probably puts him quite a bit higher on the list that other people. To kill him off at the end of the season after surviving that doesn’t make a lot of sense.
Carl’s death would however send Rick off the deep end completely which maybe what he needs to fight Negan and the Saviours. On the flip side of that it could make Rick realize that everything he has he loses and not want to fight any more for fear of losing Judith and Michonne.
