PODCAST I Geek Chorus Episode #32: The Harleycast

Suicide Squad is one of the hot-button movie topics of the summer, but everyone agrees on one thing- Harley Quinn rules. Whether it’s Margot Robbie’s fun portrayal in the new flick or the legendary Arleen Sorkin breaking the first ground in Batman: The Animated Series, the character has become one DC Comic’s most popular, quoted, cosplayed, and beloved villains. With the former doctor Harleen Quinzel being on every geek’s mind this season, host Rob thought it would be fun to sit down with the world’s biggest Harley fan (don’t debate that with her, it’s not worth your life), Meg Foley. Your two nerds of the week break down the history, popularity, appeal, and importance of Harley, while enjoying Jameson whisky that Meg brought because Rob is predictable and easy to please. Listen in amazement as Meg fan girls for an hour and Rob keeps forgetting what he wanted to bring up.

Harley Quinn was created for the acclaimed Batman: The Animated Series by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini as a psychotherapist turned sidekick turned girlfriend of sorts to the Joker. Initially appearing as a background character, she grew in popularity and received her own graphic novel origin story and feature episode of the cartoon. Brought into the main DC canon due to her awesomeness, Harley is almost expected to appear in any media featuring the Joker now, and fans wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Face it, Harl, this stinks — yer a certified nutso wanted by the law in over a dozen states — and hopelessly in love with a murderous, psychopathic clown.”
