PRESS RELEASE: Split Lip Relaunches Kickstarter

Split Lip is back on Kickstarter for its tenth anniversary!

October is the 10th anniversary of Split Lip, the award-winning comics anthology called “the best horror anthology on the Internet” by Comics Should Be Good and “stark, gritty, and unflinching” by Rue Morgue. To celebrate the anniversary, series creator Sam Costello is releasing a deluxe edition via Kickstarter.

The anniversary book is a 350-page hardcover packed with 13 of the best Split Lip stories from the series’ decade-long run, featuring work by artists like Kyle Strahm (Spread, Image), Sami Makkonen (Deadworld, IDW), and John Bivens (Spread, Image). It includes over 50 pages of new material, such as commentary on every story by Costello, art excerpts, interviews with artists, and essays. Fans can get the book for as little as $7 for a DRM-free PDF of $28 for a hardcover, with free US shipping for many rewards. A 55-page free preview is available on Kickstarter.

The campaign has been live for only a week and is already nearly 85% funded. It was named a “Project We Love” by Kickstarter. Bonus awards have already been unlocked and stretch goals – like prints, bonus PDFs, and upgrades to the book – are in reach.

“I starter Split Lip because I wanted to make comics feel like the weird fiction and thoughtful horror movies I love,” says Costello. “I’m thrilled to celebrate 10 years of publishing dark stories by releasing this deluxe edition. And, because Split Lip is a true anthology with no ongoing plots of characters, even readers who have never heard of Split Lip will be able to enjoy it.”
