6 Things We Want to see in Guardians of Galaxy Vol. 2

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be out on May 5, 2017. It’s one of the most anticipated superhero movies of the year.  It’s the sequel to the surprise hit of 2014, Guardians of the Galaxy. In this movie, the Guardians (Star Lord, Drax, Gamora, Rocket, Baby Groot, Nebula, Yondu and Mantis) face down an empire of golden alien people to save the Galaxy once again. There are a lot of things that we want from this movie, but these are my top six things that we want to see GotG2.

6. Big Battle

The most important of any action superhero movie is the climatic fight between the heroes and the movies’ bad guys. The showdown between the Guardians and the Nova against Ronan and his forces was epic in the first movie, so with James Gunn still as director, I suspect great things. The battle will definitely be in space, and there better be tons of Rocket Raccoon-speciality explosions and weapons used. Hopefully, everyone will get a great fight.

Besides they are fighting golden alien people, it has to be good.

5. Soul Stone

The last Infinity Stone probably won’t be in this particular movie. I suspect that it will be in Thor Ragnarok. But some mention of the Soul Stone or the other Infinity Stones need to be in this movie, just to help move the overall plot of the MCU. With the big team up of 2018 being the Avengers: Infinity War, there needs to more build up towards that instead of just the hints that we have been getting for the last nine years since Iron Man. Having the Guardians realise that Thanos was headed to Earth or looking for the other stones could help too.

4. Thanos

Thanos is the big bad of the MCU. We need more Thanos, or mentioning Thanos. I mean, the Nova Corps have to have some sort of recon on Thanos and his movements, am I right? He’s super dangerous and he has a Gauntlet and one of the Infinity Stones. He needs to be make a power move, and not just be this vague looming threat. Thanos should totally be behind the events of the sequel, if he doesn’t make a power move. In all honesty, we don’t really know the state of the universe, except that the Kree have an empire and Thanos is emperor-like in all this, so I hope we learn more about the different cultures and species in the universe under Thanos’ control.

3. Gamora and Nebula

How did Nebula wind up with the Guardians? She hates her sister Gamora and she does not like the Guardians at all.  Nebula is definitely a Thanos supporter. I want a good explanation and reasoning behind her heel face turn. I get that in the comics that Nebula was one of the key characters in the battle against Thanos during the comics’ Infinity War stories, but hopefully it’ll make sense in the terms of the MCU. The MCU is not the same as the comics, even if the writers and directors draw on the comics for the movies.

2. Daddy Issues

With Ego the Living Planet as Quill’s father, I suspect that there’s going to be some major family drama for Star Lord. Star Lord was kidnapped by the Ravagers shortly after his mother’s death, which Peter never managed to deal with. The Ravagers, most especially Yondu, raised the boy into the Star Lord that we all love and are mostly exasperated with at times. Peter’s not going to take meeting his biological father well, so I expect to see some punches thrown at Ego. And I want to know what Yondu thinks about all this—especially since Yondu never delivered Peter in the first place to Ego.

1. Baby Groot

As I have written before, Baby Groot will steal the show. I think that everyone who loved Groot in the first movie will be back to see what’s up with the anthropomorphic tree that can only say “I am Groot” in different inflections to mean different things. Baby Groot is adorable, but also young and stupid, so I suspect that he’s going to cause some chaos. But that doesn’t mean that he won’t be in the thick of fighting, even if the other Guardians might want to protect him. Baby Groot is who we all want to see, let’s not deny it.

There are a lot more things that I want to see in the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, like some more about the Nova Corps and if the Guardians will run into Hulk and Thor or something. However, the six I listed are the best I think.

What do you think? What do you want to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2? We only have a few weeks to wait and see if I’m right. Sound off in the comments or send us your thoughts on Twitter!
