AP2HYC TV Awards 2017 – Best Break-Out Character

Summer is officially here, which means the primary television season has come to a close. The season brought with it the return of beloved superheroes, a heckuvalot of robots, and enough villains to make our heads spin. To celebrate another year of awesome, nerdy, super television, AP2HYC is hosting our third annual TV Awards! After months spent reviewing and recapping your (and our!) favorite shows, the AP2HYC writers have selected the best of the best to compete for victory in the 2017 TV Awards. Be sure to cast your votes in each category, and check back to find out which of your favorite shows, characters, and crews will come out on top!

Some characters just steal the show from the moment they appear on screen. Whether we love them or love to hate them, some creations just seem to find their way into our hearts.

Colleen Wing – Iron Fist

The clear standout of Iron Fist, Colleen Wing showed off her badassery as a martial arts savant whose wry quips landed just as frequently as her fists.

Robbie Reyes – Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Robbie Reyes’ introduction to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. brought with it a hell of a lot of fiery goodness. Unlike the last version of Ghost Rider to grace our screens, this version is memorable in all the best ways. The character has received such fan-appreciation that people are already calling for a spin-off!

Bill Potts – Doctor Who

Curious, excitable, and full of compassion, Bill instantly won the affections of The Doctor and viewers alike. A young, gay, black woman from a working class background, Bill provides a totally different dynamic to anything we’ve seen on the show before, and her sense of fun and vulnerability make her totally relatable.

Prometheus/Adrian Chase – Arrow

It’s been some time since Arrow has given us a villain that has been an actual threat to our band of heroes. The introduction of Prometheus brought us a character who always seems to be ten steps ahead of Oliver and Co.

Mon-El – Supergirl

Mon-El

Superman wasn’t the only new alien introduced to Kara Danvers’ life this season in Supergirl. The ever-sarcastic Mon-El joined the gang and, despite some initial conflict with our titular hero, managed to woo our favorite caped crusader.

Maggie Sawyer – Supergirl

First introduced as National City’s most competent police detective, Maggie Sawyer wound up becoming an integral part of Team Supergirl. Smart, funny, and more than capable of holding her own in any situation, Maggie Sawyer is a character who has left her mark on Supergirl.

AIDA – Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Aida-2

Starting off as a high-tech Life-Model-Decoy, AIDA quickly transitioned into S.H.I.E.L.D.’s greatest foe to date, trapping our heroes in an alternate universe in order to build herself a human body.
