AP2HYC Reviews Avengers: Infinity War

The dust is starting to settle on Avengers: Infinity War, the result of a decade’s worth of cinematic story-telling. It’s been met with a buzz of positive reception from fans and critics alike, but what did the various writers and editors of A Place To Hang Your Cape make of the film? Let’s find out?

“The character team-ups were a dream to watch, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that there was very little story going on. Avengers: Infinity War feels like it mostly consists of scrambling from one action set piece to the other. Highly entertaining, but the rewatch value is debatable.” – Fred McNamara, Official Sidekick

“10 years of constant teasers have culminated in a movie that met my expectations and even more so. The action and the narrative fly at a rapid pace that see all our favourite heroes get decent screen time and being truly tested against the titan that is Thanos. A much darker story with a few instances of Marvel Studio humour and wit, don’t expect a happy tale or one to answer our many burning questions. My only gripe is knowing we have to wait a year to see what happens next. Let all the fan theories and discussions begin!” – Connor Filsell, Contributing Writer

“I loved the film. Thanos really stole the show, one of my all time favourite villains now. I think his development and character arc was the real key to the story. I also liked the action sequence on Titan and the relationship between Scarlet Witch and Vision. Bring on Part 2!” – David Molofsky, Editor-in-Cape

“In 2008, we had no idea the MCU would culminate to such a monumental event. Avengers: Infinity War is an event; a spectacle that will leave you breathless from start to finish. While it’s arguable that its the best movie to come out of the MCU, there is no denying that this film will leave everyone who has been waiting for this moment satisfied and excited for what happens next.” – Jillian Diblasio, Senior Writer

Avengers: Infinity War is as overstuffed and complicated as it is fun and ambitious, but where this balanced bothered me in, say, Avengers: Age of Ultron, here I was just too awed to care. It was great to see some of the newer heroes get pushed to the forefront (Scarlet Witch, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Vision) and the Russo Brothers’ talent for ensemble work was clearly on display. And Thanos! What a villain!” – Jonathan Hazin, Junior Sidekick

Infinity War was a curve-ball of a Marvel film. Bleak and unpredictable at times, it will leave you scalped like O-Ren Ishii at the end of Kill Bill Vol. 1. It is most definitely the darkest of MCU films to date. You’re gonna want to watch this one at least twice.” – Zaibien Hunter, Contributing Writer

A mostly positive response then from the AP2HYC crew, with plenty to look forward to in Avengers: Not-Infinity-War-Part-2!
