Resurrection Men Is a Thrilling, New Horror Tale

Resurrection Men is a strange beast. Its story is familiar and, yet, it feels new and fresh. It takes a concept that feels it has been done before, bringing people back from the dead, but does so in a way that is its own. It is something that needs to be experienced and enjoyed especially if you are a fan of the horror genre.

The story follows a widow named James whose son, Jude, is hit by a bus and presumably killed. When James awakens in the hospital, he discovers that he has the gift to resurrect people and his son is very much alive. However, when doctors become aware of his power, they desperately seek to exploit it. To use his power at their will, they kidnap his son. Now, following the advice of his ghost wife, James must find a way to save his son and discover what other, darker plans are at play.

Resurrection Men has a very unique storyline. It feels like other stories but also has a flare about it that is distinct. The concept of resurrection is also uniquely handled. People who have been resurrected feel as though they have lost something, a piece of themselves. And that is only those resurrections that are successful, with most being nothing but zombies. Again, it feels familiar and yet, this story manages to really do something that feels like its own. Even its genre is hard to describe. While it is first and foremost a horror piece, there really is plenty of thriller and action where it could fit into other genre categories. It’s a piece that truly is within its own world of rules.

The artwork adds to the unsettling nature of the story. The use of shadows and fluid style creates a sense of unease with the readers. The lack of certain details, particularly in character’s faces, doesn’t deter from the emotion in certain panels. The simplicity of it all puts the readers on edge, making them want more. Like the story, the artwork feels as though you’ve seen it before but with an added sense of its own identity. Truly, this was a pleasure to read and the artwork really stood out in both issues.

Overall, Resurrection Men is an interesting story, one that touches on the familiar yet brings forth enough originality to keep things fresh and interesting. We’re eager to see where this story goes as there’s plenty of twists and turns this story can take. With so much mystery surrounding the plot, readers will be eager to see what comes next. We know we certainly are. If you’re a fan of things macabre but with a sense of action and mystery, this is definitely something you will want to check out.
