Top 5 Predictions for “Daredevil: Born Again”

Daredevil: Born Again

By far one of the most exciting announcements to come from Marvel Studios San Diego comic con 2022 panel that discussed the future of the MCU has to be that in spring 2024 we will see Charlie Cox return to the role of Daredevil in his own show which will have a whopping 18 episodes in its first season. Cox has already returned to the role in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) and made an appearance in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022). Vincent D’Onofrio will be joining Cox in the show returning to the role of Kingpin (something he already did in the Hawkeye series). Apart from the title, Daredevil: Born Again (The name a nod to Frank Miller’s comic story-arc) as well as some actors that will appear and the number of episodes we will be getting, we know very little about the show but that doesn’t mean we can’t make some educated guesses. So sit back and enjoy our Top 5 Predictions for Daredevil: Born Again!

5. It will be a soft reboot of the Netflix Series

With the main two actors returning, many are wondering if Born Again will be a direct continuation of Netflix’s Daredevil show that ran from 2015 to 2018, thereby making the “Netflix Marvel Universe” (Including shows like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher and The Defenders) canon to the MCU. We however, believe that this show will be more of a soft reboot of the series; re-introducing us to these familiar characters while subtly changing things to make the show fit better into the established MCU canon. We may see more familiar actors and characters return, but any direct reference to the events of the previous show is highly unlikely. This will be a new start for Daredevil acknowledging the past show; probably not referencing it or treating it canon to both the MCU and the new story Born Again will want to explore.

4. More familiar faces will return

With both Vincent D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox signing on to be in Born Again, it would be safe to assume that they won’t be the only actors to reprise their roles from the 2015 Daredevil show. Some big names that immediately spring to mind as being likely to return are Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple. If they return it will be a great treat for fans as one of the most appealing parts of the Netflix Daredevil show was the talented cast and how they played off one another. That isn’t to say that all actors from the original show will return, but it is likely will we see one or two more familiar faces. There are two more actors that may be likely to return in Born Again; check out some of the other entries on the list to learn about them!

3. Some Characters will be Recast

Although it is likely that we will have many actors returning from Daredevil (2015) to Daredevil: Born Again (2024), It is equally likely that some characters will be recast to fit in better with the MCU canon or to further distance itself from the Netflix show and establish that this is a new Daredevil. There are already rumours that Eiza González will be taking over the role of the Elektra, replacing Elodie Yung. With further rumours of Disney wanting to make a new Heroes for Hire show if either Luke Cage or Iron Fist appear in the show, it is likely that they will have new actors. Although some of these recasts will likely annoy die hard fans of the original Daredevil show, it will help Marvel to better distance itself from the Netflix series and make Daredevil: Born Again establish itself as it’s own show.

2. Wilson Bethel will return as Bullseye

This seems like a no brainer of an idea. We were very much robbed of a true Wilson Bethel Bullseye performance, with him only appearing in the third and final season of the Netflix Daredevil series. And even then he spent most of the season impersonating Daredevil and wearing his costume. We never got to see him in his own costume or even going by his true supervillain moniker. But from what we did see of Bethel’s performance, he was truly suited to play the psychotic hitman who never misses. It would be great to see Bethel return and finally get to use the Bullseye name and wear the iconic black and white costume. Bullseye was also a prominent member of the Thunderbolts in the comics and with Marvels announcement of a Thunderbolts movie in July of 2024 (After Born Again airs on Disney Plus spring of that same year)  Bullseye could be reintroduced in Born Again only to captured and play a larger role in Thunderbolts.

1. Jon Bernthal will return as The Punisher

Out of all of the predictions made on this list, this is the one that needs to happen. Of all the things to come out of Netflix’s Daredevil, Jon Bernthal’s believable and entertaining performance as The Punisher ranks as one of the best. Bernthal was so popular in Daredevil that he got his own show that ran for 2 seasons on Netflix. It would be great to see him return and it seems like Bernthal himself is up for it. The Punisher has become a more controversial character in recent years due to how his iconography has been used by certain groups, but nevertheless Punisher is an interesting character and it would be great to see Bernthal revisit the character in Born Again. Marvel could even use his appearance to make some social commentary; how The Punisher’s crusade is ultimately self-destructive and wrong. Whatever the case, it would be great to see Bernthal back.
