Revenge star Emily VanCamp has reportedly joined the cast of 2014’s Captain America: The First Avenger. The actress is only confirmed to be playing the female lead opposite Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers/Captain America, but fan speculation is that VanCamp will portray Sharon Carter, the niece of Rogers’ former flame Peggy Carter (played by Hayley Atwell in Captain America: The First Avenger). In addition to Revenge, VanCamp has had roles in Everwood and Brothers & Sisters, but this will be her first starring feature role.
While the addition of VanCamp has many assuming The Winter Soldier will begin shooting in March as planned, other sources are reporting possible delays in the shoot. In a recent interview with Doug Loves Movies, Evans stated that he has yet to receive the script, brushing it off saying “That’s how Marvel works.” In addition, Feature Film Casting has listed the sequel’s start date as June. It seems unlikely that VanCamp’s casting is related to the delay, although it is possible that it was pushed back for rewrites or to match her Revenge schedule.
