Media Journal is a local-first application. Your media tracking data (entries, ratings, notes, and lists) is stored on your own device using your browser’s local storage and is not uploaded to or stored on any server operated by us.

Third-Party Services

When you search for or add media, Media Journal sends limited lookup requests (such as a title search) to third-party metadata providers, including TMDB, ComicVine, MyAnimeList, PodcastIndex, and Open Library, in order to retrieve titles, cover art, and related metadata. These requests do not include any personal information about you.

Data You Import

If you choose to import data from external services (such as Netflix, IMDb, Trakt, MyAnimeList, Goodreads, Amazon Prime Video, StoryGraph, Letterboxd, or a self-hosted media server like Plex, Jellyfin, or Audiobookshelf), that data is processed locally in your browser and stored on your device. It is not transmitted to us.

Data Deletion

Because all data is stored locally on your device, you can delete your data at any time by clearing your browser’s site data for Media Journal, or by uninstalling the app.
