Young and Old Professor X Not Likely to Meet In X-Men: Days of Future Past

More plot details are coming in about X-Men:  Days of Future Past now that production is to start soon on the movie.  Sources say that sadly the young Xavier, played by James McAvoy, and old Xavier, played by Patrick Stewart, will not share any screen time together.  When interviewed by  Empire McAvoy said that they don’t “think we get any scenes together, sadly. I don’t think there’s any future self talking to past self.”

This is sad news particularly because it would have been interesting to see the two Xaviers interacting with one another, and especially because both McAvoy and Stewart are both phenomenal in the role as Professor Xavier.  Story-wise  it wouldn’t really make sense for them to meet though, when in the comic it’s Kitty Pryde that travels through time.

So Bryan Singer isn’t going the route that J.J Abrams did with Star Trek,  but maybe that’s a good thing.  It sounds like Singer knows what he is doing in bringing the original X-Men trilogy and this new series together into the same universe.  If anyone can do it, why not the man who  has had a hand in the majority of the series, excluding X-Men Origins:  Wolverine and X-Men:  The Last Stand of course?

How do you feel about the news of both Xaviers, young and old not meeting?  What about the direction Singer is going with the series, do you think it’s smart to bring the two series’ together in one movie?
