3. The Adult Themes
One of the strongest aspects of the show was seeing how Jessica dealt with the fallout of what Kilgrave had done to her in the past. It was a very refreshing, honest, and mature way of dealing with some more mature themes then are usually depicted in the MCU. Jessica may have killed Kilgrave ending his reign of terror but that will more than likely just open a whole new can of worms as she deals with the fallout of that act and continues to deal with the initial trauma she suffered at his hands. It should lead to more intriguing story lines and depictions of a woman dealing with a traumatic past and doing her best to live her life.
2. Trish
While I already mentioned the great supporting cast of the series I did want to give special mention to Trish. Rachel Taylor gave a mesmerizing performance and the friendship between her and Jessica is one of the most real ones I have ever seen in a TV show. I’ve never been in situations like the show portrayed but I have had to deal with friends who had problems and had a hard time dealing with them so I could totally get what was going on in those scenes, the frustrations, the pain, and most of all the love for the person you are trying to help. Hopefully the next season of the show will continue to deepen this relationship.
1. Krysten Ritter
The person who without there would be no Jessica Jones TV series. She is the heart of the show and her incredible, multi-layered performance is a big part of what made the show such a success. From the sarcastic jerk, to the tough exterior, to the hero she really is she nailed such a complex and multi-layered performance that even impressed people I’ve recommended the show to who are not comic book fans. As great as the show as a whole was Ritter and her performance is the main reason I want to see more of Jessica Jones.
