Summer is officially here, which means the primary television season has come to a close. The season brought with it the return of beloved superheroes, a heckuvalot of robots, and enough villains to make our heads spin. To celebrate another year of awesome, nerdy, super television, AP2HYC is hosting our third annual TV Awards! After months spent reviewing and recapping your (and our!) favorite shows, the AP2HYC writers have selected the best of the best to compete for victory in the 2017 TV Awards. Be sure to cast your votes in each category, and check back to find out which of your favorite shows, characters, and crews will come out on top!

Every show needs its water cooler moments; the ones that everyone in the office talks about the next day. From shock reveals to torrid twists, from surprise deaths to miraculous resurrections. Which of the following had your jaw on the floor?

Season 7 Premiere – The Walking Dead

After a cliffhanger ending the previous year, Season 7’s opener left viewers stunned by having two popular and long standing characters meet a grisly demise at the business end of Negan’s baseball bat. Many swore never to watch again after seeing their faves bludgeoned to death.

Season 12 Finale – Supernatural

In a similar vein, Supernatural pulled off its own version of “The Red Wedding” in this year’s closing episode, killing off a raft of recurring characters, including the Winchesters’ best frenemy, the demon Crowley, and fan favourite, Castiel. Although it seems the angel is returning next year, many fans have threatened to boycott over the shock deaths.

LMD Fitz – Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

After a tearful standoff between Fitz and Simmons that involved guns, knives, and a bit of betrayal, the Scottish tech genius was revealed to be an an LMD hell-bent on plugging Jemma into the Framework.

Savitar Reveal – The Flash

After months of speculation, it was revealed in “I Know Who You Are” that villain, Savitar, was none other than Barry Allen! That’s a whole new level of being your own worst enemy!

Prometheus Reveal – Arrow

Another shock secret identity uncovered, courtesy of the Arrowverse, as – in a departure from the comic books – Prometheus was revealed to be District Attorney Adrian Chase in “Fighting Fire with Fire”.

Cottonmouth’s Death – Luke Cage

The grisly death of Cage’s adversary, Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes, killed by his own cousin in a fit of rage, was unexpected and changed the course of the show by removing the Big Bad relatively early in the season.
