Top 10 Film Announcements of 2014

7. Spectre

news-1214-spectre[1]

Taking a break from superheroes just for a moment, they announced the new James Bond movie! Yes it’s important! Plus, James Bond is kinda like a superhero for Britain. We don’t get much recognition in the superhero genre. We’ve basically got Captain Britain, Psylocke, Wolfsbane, John Constantine, Banshee, V, and Judge Dredd, depending on who you ask. That’s it.

Also the cast is looking great too. It’s got Christoph Waltz, Dave Bautista, Andrew Scott and Monica Bellucci. Plus Daniel Craig returns, along with Ralph Fiennes (who presumably took the role of M in order to make up for the atrocious Avengers film. No, not that one!), Naomie Harris and… Ben Wishaw. Who plays Q. The gadget master of MI6. Who is traditionally played by an old man. Not a guy in his 30’s who looks like he’s still in bloody puberty! *Barely controlled rage* And that’s… just… FINE!

6. Captain Marvel

I know a lot of people who are very excited about this film. Truth be told, I’ve always been kinda “meh” about Captain Marvel/Ms Marvel/Warbird/Binary/Whatever. But that’s just because I’m not that familiar with the character. I know a lot of people that are familiar and they say she’s great, so who am I to judge?

Anyway, I’m just glad we’re getting a superhero film with a female protagonist. We all know that hasn’t gone down too well in the past, but I’m confident that Marvel won’t screw it up. Sadly we’ll have to wait until 2018 for the results.

5. X-Men: Apocalypse

X-MEN-APOCALYPSE-600x350[1]

Oh THANK YOU Bryan Singer! Thank you so much! When you left the X-Men films for that saucy whore Superman, the Children of the Atom were left in a shroud of darkness, with only a few glimmers of hope in First Class and The Wolverine. But you came back! And Days of Future Past was awesome! And thanks to that film being so awesome, we’ve got a slew of new X-Men films coming out! Yay!

Singer is apparently going to direct Apocalypse so already that’s a great start. Plus James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Hugh Jackman, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, and Evan Peters

4. Black Panther

The King of Wakanda is coming soon! And by soon, I mean 2016 in Captain America: Civil War. The actual Black Panther film won’t be until 2017. Still, yay! Sadly we don’t know much about the film at this time. We know Chadwick Boseman, best known for his stunning portrayal of James Brown in Get On Up, is playing T’Challa. And apparently Raw Leiba is in talks to play Erik Killmonger. That’s about it.

All I know is, I can’t wait! Black Panther has always seemed like a cool character and I know Marvel is going to make his big screen debut an awesome one!
