3. Younger X-Men
Let’s be honest: X-Men Origins: Wolverine was a pretty big disappointment. So disappointing that it was heavily argued whether or not it was worse than X-Men III: The Last Stand. And one of the biggest disappointments was how younger X-Men such as Cyclops were portrayed in the film (we’re not even going to discuss Deadpool’s role in the movie). With X-Men: Apocalypse, there’s hope for redemption. Seeing a younger group of X-Men once again will hopefully be better the second time around. And, as a Nightcrawler fan, seeing Nightcrawler once again in an X-Men movie will be a nice bonus.
2. X-Men Rebooted
During X-Men’s run, there’s been a decent amount of some of our favorite mutants who were not given the treatment they deserve. With Apocalypse, it looks as though we may have characters getting the second chance they desperately need. Jubilee seems to possess a more prominent and accurate role based on the trailer. While Psylocke only had a brief cameo in X-Men III, she clearly has a much larger role in this film. And we’ll finally get to see Archangel in one of his big story arcs. Now let’s just hope these second chances are going to be well worth it.
1. New Possibilities
The best thing X-Men: Days of Future Past could have done for us was resetting all the bad aspects of previous films (we’re looking at you X-Men III). While that meant we lost a lot of good moments as well, let’s face it, it was a sacrifice that had to be made. And now, we can finally move forward and see just what this quasi reboot has to offer.
It’s a complete reset and there’s many possibilities and opportunities for both new and old characters. Only time will tell whether it will be worth the sacrifice but one thing is for sure: it’s going to be one hell of a ride.
