Meanwhile, Ryan Coogler’s blockbuster has grossed $1.29 billion in the global box office.

Global and Domestic Box Office Run
Black Panther has now even surpassed The Avengers who has grossed $623 million in the US market and globally it is expected to soar past The Avengers with $1.5 billion and Avengers: Age of Ultron with 1.4 billion. Coogler’s Black Panther is only one of the seven films which have collected more than $600 million in the US. In the US box office, the all-black cast movie is expected to occupy the third spot behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens which has grossed $936.6 million and Avatar with $760.5 million. In addition to crushing many records, it silently recorded another feat. It is the third movie to hold the box office top spot for five straight weeks. Prior to this, James Cameron’s Avatar held the top spot in box office for seven weeks straight. The hugely successful movie featured an almost all-black cast with stars like Michael B .Jordan, Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker and more. The movie serves as a wake up call for the movie industry to the need for more diverse films.
Plotline
The movie is set in a fictional nation of Wakanda, home to the Black Panther. It also the only the only place to have the exotic metal Vibranium which gives Black Panther his powers. The story follows T’Challa as he is crowned the king of Wakanda after the events that happened in Captain America: Civil War. This movie is the first solo outing for the Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa.

Apart from the records that it has set in the box office domestic and global, there are reports that say that Black Panther is the first movie to be screened in Saudi Arabia in 35 years following the ban on cinema. This comes as the country takes its baby steps to transform the conservative society.
Avengers: Infinity War is to be released on April 27, which according to the trailers is going to be partly set in Wakanda. Wakanda isn’t going anywhere, and neither is T’Challa.
