Thor

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Thor is one of the most enduring Marvel superheroes. For the record, this was the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s fourth feature and was directed by Kenneth Branagh. Here we are introduced to the story of the Norse God of Thunder, who is stripped of his powers by the chief God, Odin (Anthony Hopkins), and banished from their world of Asgard. He faces a fight to reclaim his rightful place but finds a tricky adversary in his treacherous brother, Loku (Tom Hiddleston).

Doctor Strange

Starring Benedict Cumberbatch in the titular role, alongside an ensemble cast including Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One, and Chis Hemsworth in his recurring role as Thor. In New York, Stephen Strange is a surgeon with a towering ego, who loses his hands in an accident. He experiments with different surgeries – to no avail. He then delves into sorcery, beginning a course of training, where he learns all about spells protecting the planet. We are introduced to his alter-ego, Doctor Strange, an enigmatic character who is also the ‘Sorcerer Supreme,’ whose primary is to act as Earth’s main protector against any type of supernatural or magical threat. This Marvel movie is also memorable for Thor’s end-credits appearance.

Thor: Love & Thunder

Moving on to the 29th movie in the franchise, this is a sequel to Thor: Ragnarok that can still be enjoyed as a standalone, after a synopsis of the preliminary events. Formerly the King of Asgard, Thor, having left Earth in the wake of Avengers: Endgame must do battle with Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale). As with many of the Marvel series, there are crossovers, in this case, Guardians of the Galaxy. When Thor discovers Gorr’s next intended target is New Asgard, he is spurred into action.

Avengers: Infinity War

Hemsworth reprises his role as Thor in this, the third of the Avengers films, and also the 19th in the Marvel universe. Here, the Guardians of the Galaxy are in transit in space when they receive a distress signal and find Thor, having been ejected from Asgard. Thor realised the evil Thanos and his children, who are running amok. Together with Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) and Groot (Vin Diesel), they search for special weapons to help them defeat Rocket. As well as Thor, many other familiar faces make guest appearances, including Captain America (Chris Evans), Spider-Man (Tom Holland), and Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman).

Avengers: Endgame

Thor stars in the 4th Avengers film, and what a finale for your Chris Hemsworth-oriented movie fest. A conclusion to Infinity War, Thanos has used his evil gauntlet to destroy half of the universe’s lifeforms. The remaining Avengers, including Thor, reunite to face this threat. With fantastic special effects and a plot that unfolds at a dizzying pace, involving elements of time travel, Thanos and his army are faced down by the god guys in a thrilling conclusion the Avengers series.
