3. Xavier Defeated
One major part of the trailer comes from Apocalypse and Professor Xavier coming to blows. The trailer shows the leader of the X-Men being pushed around by Apocalypse. Is this the moment that actor James McAvoy was alluding to? And in his encounter with the villain, what causes the character to lose his luscious long locks?
2. Mystique is Part of The X-Men
Mystique has played a big part in the prequels, aligning to the success of actress Jennifer Lawrence, and judging by the trailer it looks like the trend is set to continue. The loyal companion of Magneto has joined forces with the X-Men to try and stop Apocalypse in his tracks.
Of course we know that the shapeshifting mutant later joins forces with Magneto; is this the film that pushes the two characters together again?
1.Apocalypse
You can hear the sighs of relief around the world, Apocalypse looks pretty badass. Hysteria took over when pictures were leaked of the antagonist, which saw him looking more like Ivan Ooze from the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie than the big bad from the comics. Alas, the character is looking like his older self again, and once again, we all judged too quickly. Man of the moment Oscar Isaac, delivers the chilling line “I’ve been called many things, over many lifetimes… Ra, Krishna, Yahweh” of course now known as Apocalypse. It looks as though he is trying to recruit mutants, or gather his new “Four Horseman” away from “blind leaders” meaning Professor Xavier. On his side we see Magneto, a young Storm, and Arc Angel.
Xavier says of the villain “I’ve never felt power like this before”, and he certainly has the professor spooked. Expect plenty of deaths and destruction to follow in his footsteps. They’ve transformed a 5’8 Oscar Isaac into a truly menacing-looking Apocalypse.
The trailer has also left us with a lot of unanswered questions, such as where was Wolverine? And will the newly cast Gambit feature?
Directed by Bryan Singer, X-Men: Apocalypse is the third X-Men prequel and eighth film in the long-running mutant series. With rumours of potential cameos from big-time characters and the success of the two prequels, X-Men: Apocalypse is on our list of most hotly anticipated films of 2016.
